OverView
Roblox is a massively multiplayer online virtual playground and workshop designed for kids aged 7 and up. It can be explained as a Legos Video Game. Players can build their own unique world and mini games with blocks of various shapes, sizes, and materials just like they would in real life with actual legos.
Character Customization
Players can customize their characters with items found in the game Catalog. This Catalog contains Roblox as well as user created items which include things such as faces, clothing, heads, gear and body types. Players can also choose to create an item if they would like and customize their character with that as well.
In Game Building
Players of Roblox have the opportunity and ability to construct nearly anything they want. The game allows players to construct as many as 100 different places depending on if you are a free to play member or a player whom pays for a membership. The game gives you an unlimited number of blocks to use to develop each place of yours and even insert your own scripts to give it functionality. Players can create their own scripts or use scripts that are supplied by Roblox. Use your imagination when building for the sky is the limit!
In Game Economy
Roblox features its own virtual economy within the game based on Tickets and Robux. Tickets can be earned when other players visit the virtual places that you have created. They can also be earned the first time you log in each day as well as when other players buy virtual items you have created such as clothing.
Robux are earned daily by paying members only. These can be earned through the selling virtual goods and can also be purchased with real money. One great feature is that Tickets can be exchanged for Robux so even non paying users can earn the real money currency within the game.
My Thoughts
Overall this game has become a huge hit and is continuing to grow. It now offers an iPhone app and updates to the game are applied frequently. As a kid building things out of legos seemed to be an everyday thing for me. Roblox has given me the opportunity to do this again except online. It is like the ultimate legos video game online and I am sure that if building simulation games are what you are looking for than Roblox will not disappoint.
